About Mary Kay

Senior Advisor

Mary Kay Hogan joined the Flywheel team in July 2017 as a Senior Advisor. Mary Kay is a licensed attorney in the State of Colorado whose practice has focused on state and local government relations since 1988. Before beginning her lobbying career, she was a law clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Gaspar Perricone of the First Judicial District of Colorado. Upon completing law school, Mary Kay served as legal counsel to the General Assembly in the non-partisan Office of the Legislative Legal Services, where she served on the tax and finance team.

 

In 1998, Mary Kay began lobbying with Ruben Valdez and Ruth Aponte, subsequently establishing Aponte and Hogan Public Affairs Consultants, Inc. in 1999. She represented a wide variety of corporate, non-profit and public sector clients, before joining Colorado Governor Bill Ritter's Administration as his Legislative Director in 2006. During the Ritter Administration, she was responsible for coordinating the drafting and passage of major legislative initiatives in the areas of public education, transportation, renewable and traditional energy, and finance.

 

She returned to the private sector in 2010, and continues to represent a wide spectrum of clients from the public, private and non-profit sector in front of the Colorado General Assembly and with gubernatorial administrations nationwide.

 

Mary Kay is a graduate of the University of Arizona, and earned her JD from the University of Denver School of Law. She currently lives in Denver, CO.
